Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile plant materials known as essential oils to improve mind and body health by assisting body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself.

There are several ways of using essential oils. Massage is one of the best because not only you receive the therapeutic properties of the essential oils but you also get the benefits of the massage itself. Since ancient times massage was one of the main ways of healing and relieving pain.

When applied to the body, essential oils penetrate the skin via the hair follicles and sweat glands and are absorbed into the body stream. Each essential oil has its own character and aroma. Many essential oils help to kill bacteria and stimulate/strengthen the body’s immune system, preventing from any infections. Some others increase the blood and lymph circulation and help with the elimination of toxins while others promote new cell growth and stimulate body’s ability to heal itself.

Aromatherapy massage stimulates the organs of the body including the skin, muscles and nerves. Thus, it can be beneficial for skin conditions such as acne or eczema and also for tight muscles or painful joints (e.g arthritis).
It can be also have an invaluable effect on the nervous system. It is very useful in conditions such as depression, stress, insomnia or tension. It helps the body to relax and also to achieve a better state of mind. The aroma of the essential oils sends a signal directly to the Limbic system in the brain which is the centre of the emotions and memory, having a powerful effect on the mood and general state of mind.
